Liza Bruce, Voyager
LIZA BRUCE AND I ARE TUCKED AWAY BEHIND THE SILK CURTAIN OF THE CHANGING ROOM in her jewel box of a store in Knightsbridge; Bruce perches on a red leather poof, while I squat on an African carved chair. It’s an intimate, if unconventional, set-up for an interview, reminiscent of the sociable, drawn-out exchanges of the Marrakech medina, where Bruce is planning to open a new store, Odalisque. It’s the first time she will be
selling her designs in Marrakech, and in addition to the exquisite bright kaftans and signature swimwear, Odalisque will also stock furniture designed by her husband and collaborator Nicholas Alvis Vega, along with a smattering of African antiques.
